Williamson County / District 31 constituents have been asking Representative John Carter for a Townhall for years. He refuses. He holds only teleconferences, giving constituents no real opportunity to ask him questions. So we have decided to hold our own Townhall event at Champion Park in Cedar Park and we invited HIM to join US.

Rep. Carter has officially declined our invitation, but we're having a town hall anyway. Bring your families (there's a playground and restroom facilities). Bring a picnic dinner and lawn chairs / blankets. We will have guest speakers (including Austin City Councilman Jimmy Flanagan and Williamson County Commissioner Terry Cook). The program will start at 5:30.

Most of the event will be reserved for constituent questions. What would you ask Carter if he were there? We will record the event, and we will have several dedicated live tweeters and folks who will Facebook live throughout the event. Our dedicated hashtag is #WilcoTownHall. Start tweeting now about how excited you are about the Townhall and how much you hope Rep. Carter (@JudgeCarter) will be there!

We have every reason to expect the press will be there. Our event has already received local coverage (see: Central Texas Republicans sidestep calls for town hall meetings and Most Texans in Congress not planning in-person town halls over recess) Similar events in neighboring districts have had heavy press presence.

Miscellaneous details:

  • Please note that there is limited parking. **Carpooling is a must!** If the parking lot is full, try Brushy Creek Lake park and walk over to join us.
  • The park asks us not to bring glass bottles.
  • Please remember this is a non-partisan event. We will have elected officials there, but we won't be rallying for a party. We are there to present our concerns and exercise our right to representation.
  • We will have Peace Monitors and medical professionals on hand in case of emergency. We take safety seriously.
  • If you need accommodations, please contact us. We want to create space for everyone.
